Concept mapping is a great approach for breaking down a complex system or problem and understanding interconnections. I frequently use concept mapping in the beginning of design research to quickly identify my current knowledge of a problem. I applied this synthesis method to a problem that I care about: selecting a form of birth control.
This form of visual exploration of a problem helps me start to see patterns and helps me identify a central message that I'd like to communicate. After the mapping and modeling through sketches, I created a final digital model.
